A thriving democracy needs dynamic congregations and community groups - places where individuals build relationships, create a sense of belonging and cultivate a sense of personal agency and commitment to the common good.

Yet most organizations leave their greatest resource—people—untapped and committees too often become graveyards for good ideas.

Congregations and community organizations should be engines of leadership formation and community re-imagination—if we create new rhythms and rituals. We urgently need more leaders, rooted in community and spiritual institutions, ready to strengthen the fabric of civil society.
